Kyle,

You are absolutely correct. The majority of people today hate authority of any kind, especially Bible authority. I can't understand why people can read their Bibles that Jesus commands ALL His followers to be united in practice, worship, doctrine, church organization, way of salvation, yet look upon that command like a mere suggestion. Jesus said He would judge us all according to how we lived by His Word, not by our individual interpretations (John 12:48).

Mike ,

I do agree. The issue is that many have found themselves in tradition as opposed to biblical view. I firmly believe that for ALL said and done in God's House should be accompanied by book , chapter , verse. Unfortunately this is not the case today.

Kyle,

Thank you for accurate observation of the Scriptures concerning this important matter. But like the 'rapture' many try to say that while the 'sinners prayer' is not found in the Bible, it's concept is and then they will quote Romans 10:9-10. However, that text has nothing to do at all with a 'sinners' prayer.

You are correct that all we find in the Bible is that EVERYONE is to (1) hear the gospel that produces faith, (2) believe what the gospel says about the Christ, (3) make public confession that Jesus Christ IS the Son of God [both God and man], (4) repent of our sins, and last but not least, the final commandment of the Lord (5) be immersed in water in order to have our sins forgiven.

The idea that some 'sinner's prayer' is going to locate a person "IN" Christ and remit their sins is not taught anywhere in Scripture. In fact God does not hear the prayers of sinners (John 9:31; Isaiah 1:15), so how could a prayer by sinners possibly save?

Norm , I can say that this prayer is one that I am unable to find in my Bible. What I do find is for one to believe and obey the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. I do understand your stance on this and it biblical accuracy or inaccuracy.
