As I said before, they have already been reborn through their obedience to the word of God. Just as a person is born one time in the flesh, they are born again (a spiritual birth) once. The Bible doesn't say anywhere to be born again and again and again and again. It just says to be born again and tells us how to do that.

Just as a person can loose their physical health and restore it through the necessary means, a person can loose their spiritual health. A person doesn't have to be born again physically to restore their physical health and neither does a person have to be born again spiritually to restore their spiritual health. The Bible says how that spiritual health can be regained by the person who has already been born again, as I have shown in the article.

Let me demonstrate it again here, very briefly.

Peter says a person is born again by obeying the Gospel (1 Peter 1:22, 23).

Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently: Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.
(1Peter 1:22-23 KJV)

See "The Gospel Plan Of Salvation" below for how to obey the gospel.

Without obedience to the Gospel there is no hope of salvation (2 Thessalonians 1:8). Paul says the Gospel is the death, burial and resurrection of Christ (1 Corinthians 15:1-4). In Romans 6:3-5 he shows how we obey the Gospel. It is by emulating the death, burial and resurrection of Christ in baptism. Notice in verse four that he says we are raised in newness of life. The newness of life (new birth) comes after baptism, not before or without baptism. Peter said we are born again through obedience to the word of God.

In his second letter Peter refers to those who had already purified their souls through obedience to the word of God but had turned back to the pollutions of the world (2 Peter 2:20, 21). So, the same apostle who said that the new birth is the result of obeying the Gospel now refers to those who had done that as being lost. These are people who had already been born again and later became lost. In the article I showed very clearly how the Bible addresses these people for them to be restored to spiritual health, i.e. salvation.

Now, you say that I am teaching something not found in the Bible. I give Bible passages for everything I say. Those passages are always used in context and give proper application. If you disagree with what I have presented why don't you give the alternative with book, chapter and verse? Before you say it is because I will not allow you the space to do so, let me give you the biblical plan of salvation in a very brief and concise manner here.

The Gospel Plan Of Salvation
Hear the gospel (Rom. 10:17).
Believe what it teaches about Christ and His kingdom (Acts 8:12).
Repent of your sins (Acs 2:38).
Confess your faith in Christ (Acts 8:37).
Be baptized for the remission of sins (Acts 22:16).
Live a faithful Christian life (Col. 1:22, 23).

I find this interestin Norm. According to your theology the only way to make this logical would be for one to be rebaptized. you made the following statement " The difference between the command for the alien sinner to repent unto salvation (Acts 2:38) and the Christian’s exhortation to repent (Acts 8:22) is that the Christian is not told to be baptized after his repentance. He has already been baptized, therefore, when he sins he has already been born again and only needs to repent and ask God’s forgiveness to be restored." Now , you said they have already been born again ... yet loose there salvation... so they loose there salvation but remain born again? thats what you are saying. Now , where is that in scripture that you are born again , sin and become lost again , yet remain born again...?? let me give that a "lol" it would only make sense according to your theology that if they become lost they must become found again and this can only happen through salvation (which you say has been lost) and that can only be obtained through baptism. I always say if you give a church of christ denominational member enough rope in the conversation they will hang there self up , and this is most certainly what has happened here.
